Issues with Tissues
Technical advances in the ability to extract and analyze molecular material have led to an increased interest in and utilization of tissue. However, tissue samples are a precious commodity. The ability to analyze genomic and/or proteomic data derived from archived tissues, for which clinical follow-up is already available, greatly facilitates both diagnostic and therapeutic discovery research. Researchers in pharmaceutical and biotech companies currently utilize tissue for discovery research in genomics, proteomics, experimental medicine, and target validation. In spite of this, there is a need to develop guidance for researchers on ethical, legal, and management issues relating to the use of human biological material for research. Cambridge Healthtech Institute's Inaugural Tissue Technologies for Discovery Research is designed for researchers already utilizing tissue samples or considering expanding the utilization of tissue in their research projects. Learn from savvy, seasoned end-users as they share their issues with tissues experiences.
