India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. To augment economic growth, India has evolved to understand the importance of Intellectual Property Management (IPM) in a global context and has established a legal framework with supporting laws to establish a Product Patent Regime.
The Pre-Conference Tutorial will focus on the evolution of Intellectual Property Management (IPM) in Indian Pharmaceutical Industry, which can be broadly studied and understood in four phases:

(ORLL), the New Drug Discovery Entity of OCPL. ‘Om’ is associated with Indian Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry for the past 30 years in areas of Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Intellectual Property Management, New Product Development, Research Management and General Administration. He is a member of the “Royal Society of Chemistry” and other Chemical societies in US, Japan and India. He was associated with a research contract with US Bureau of Mines, Dept. of Interior, U.S. Govt at
Pittsburg, USA for two years. He is author/co-author in more than 51 referred international journals and inventor/co-inventor of more than 120 patents. |

Dr. C. B. Rao, M.Tech, Ph.D., is Deputy Managing Director of Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals
(OCPL - Group Company). Dr Rao is associated for the past 32 years in the areas of Strategic and corporate planning, Legal Liaison, human resource development, information technology, production planning, industrial engineering and general management. He has been associated with various industries namely - Pharmaceuticals, Banking and Automobiles. He is widely traveled and an invited speaker in several industrial and business forums. He is Recipient of Times Research Foundation Award for two years and has 35 papers in referred Research publications (of which 2 papers are in book form). |

Dr Prasad S Patala, BVSc (vet) MS, Po.Doc (Cornell), MS (IT), MBA. ‘Prasad’ S Patala is Deputy General Manager, R & D - Business development and works closely with the Corporate Strategy Group. He is a strategic decision maker and a macro-level operational facilitator utilizing diverse global education/ experience in the US, EU and Indian Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Animal Health Industry for the past 15 years. He has been associated with Business Development, Marketing, Customer/Client, Global Product/Project and Research Management besides short term Management and IT consulting. As a technocrat, His product development/licensing activities include Human and Animal Health Diagnostics/Biopharmaceuticals in infectious agents and cancer. He has been an interim Post-Doctoral faculty at Cornell University, USA and was awarded an ‘Invention patent’ for his graduate research work at
UMCP, USA |
