Overview
What exactly makes a stem cell a stem cell? Stem cells continue to be of enormous scientific and
clinical interest, due to the limitless therapeutic possibilities promised by their use. However, the
initial excitement generated by identification of novel stem cell populations must give way to
more focused efforts on methods to manipulate their differentiation and self-renewal capabilities.
While we know a great deal of what stem cells can do, we don’t understand the molecular
processes that afford them such unique attributes. The focus of CHI’s 2nd Annual Stem Cell
Research meeting is on the development of technological platforms to comprehend the “omics”
of stem cells. Technological progress brings fundamental understanding and will provide the
foundation for more rapid advances toward the clinic.
Session Topics Include:
• Stem Cell Culture, Expansion, Sources
• Exploring Alternative Therapeutics
• Stem Cells: Culture and Creating 3D Models
• Sources, Origins, and Fate
• Exploring Screening Tools
