SHORT COURSE 13: CONTINUOUS PROCESSING OF THERAPEUTIC
PROTEINS IN SINGLE-USE: TECHNOLOGY AND PRODUCTION CONCEPT

Tuesday, January 20 | 5:00-8:00 pm

The course will demonstrate how each unit operation in a typical monoclonal antibody process can be run continuously and also show how these unit operations are integrated into a truly continuous process. It will then be shown how the combination of continuous processing and single use technology can be implemented in a production facility. The advantages such a facility has over traditional biopharmaceutical facilities will be highlighted. Aspects related to a GMP compliant production will be discussed including process control, automation and PAT as well as process robustness, quality assurance and facility design.

Topics to be covered:

  • How to run fermentation continuously
  • How to run chromatography continuously
  • Closed processing in single use
  • PAT and process automation for a S.U. continuous process
  • Facility design for a S.U. continuous process
  • GMP compliance for a S.U. continuous process
