CHI, would like to thank the 400+ delegates who participated at Exploring Next- Generation Sequencing and Next -Generation Sequencing Data Analysis this past September. Year after year, we continue to grow in participants, and gain recognition within the industry.  The success, in part, is due to the speakers, sponsors, and attendees recognizing the quality of this event. We thank you!

We are currently working on the fall Sequencing events, and would love for you to join us! For more information, on the XGen Congress, please visit http://www.healthtech.com/xgn

Breaking News from the Conference!

TRADE NEWS: Agilent Technologies, Life Technologies Co-Market Target-Enrichment System for Next-Generation Sequencing

SANTA CLARA and CARLSBAD, Calif., Sept. 22, 2009 – Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) and Applied Biosystems, part of Life Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: LIFE), today introduced the Agilent SureSelect Target Enrichment System, which is optimized for the SOLiD™ System, a next-generation advanced genomic analysis sequencing platform. As part of the agreement, the companies are co-marketing the SureSelect system, which is a unique research tool for efficiently re-sequencing specific regions of interest in the genome. The tool saves researchers tremendous amounts of time and expense, often enabling them to conduct studies that would otherwise not be feasible.

In advance of the commercialization, the SureSelect Target Enrichment System was made available to a number of research scientists using the SOLiD System on an early-access basis, including Dr. John McPherson, Cancer Genomics director at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR). Research scientists at OICR are using seven SOLiD Systems to identify genes critical to the development of cancer. To read the full release, please click here.

TRADE NEWS: Agilent Technologies Adds Human Exon Kit to Next-Generation-Sequencing Target Enrichment Portfolio

Support of Paired-End Protocol Further Increases Sequencing Efficiency

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Sept. 22, 2009 – Agilent Technologies Inc.
(NYSE: A) has chosen the Cambridge Health Institute’s Next-Generation Sequencing Analysis conference today to introduce its SureSelect Human All Exon Kit for target enrichment prior to next-generation DNA sequencing.

This catalog kit extends the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the SureSelect Target Enrichment System to studies of all human exons, a region totaling approximately 38 Mb. Available next month, the kit is offered in sizes appropriate for studies comprised of a few to several thousand samples. The in-solution-based SureSelect Target Enrichment System easily scales up and is well-suited for automation. To read the full release, please click here

TRADE NEWS: RainDance Expands Sequence Enrichment Solution Capabilities with 20,000 Amplicon Library and Whole Genome Amplification Protocol

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Sep 23, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- CFNB | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- RainDance Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of innovative microdroplet-based solutions for health and human disease research, announced today it has expanded the capabilities of its Sequence Enrichment Solution to enable the resequencing of up to 20,000 PCR targets. In addition, RainDance said it has become the first to support whole genome amplified samples for targeted resequencing.

In a presentation at Cambridge Healthtech Institute's Exploring Next-Generation Sequencing conference, the company said these new enhancements represent a logical evolution of the RainDance technology platform and will add attractive benefits for the researcher investigating rare variants in large populations that cause cancer and other devastating diseases.
