Webinar Description:

This symposium will introduce MatTek’s two organotypic in vitro human respiratory models – EpiAirway™, a model of the tracheobronchial epithelium, and EpiAlveolar™, a model comprised of alveolar epithelial and pulmonary endothelial cells. The models and their various applications including toxicology, drug delivery, viral and bacterial infection, asthma and COPD disease research, and cigarette smoke/aerosol delivery will be described in detail. Following a brief introduction and overview, a case study describing the successful utilization of the EpiAirway™ model in an independent research program will be presented.

Learning Objectives:

  • Characterization of organotypic in vitro human respiratory models available from MatTek?
  • What distinguishes MatTek’s respiratory models apart from other commonly used respiratory models?
  • Why use 3D organotypic in vitro models derived from primary human cells instead of monolayer cells/immortal cell lines?
  • How can the use of EpiAirway™ or EpiAlveolar™ accelerate your research?
