Flextronics, a $24 billion supplier of high tech components and systems, has transformed its business strategy and culture by using Collaborative Innovation Best Practices as a System & Strategy to Negotiate with Customers & Suppliers. Through doing this, Alliance partners are better able  to produce great value from their relationships in the value chain. This approach will give alliance professionals a very new and dramatic shift in thinking
and results.

11:00 Standing Out In The Crowd
Mike Bowes, B.Sc., LLB, Managing Director, Associated Manufacturing

This session will examine how a joint venture of five metalworking manufacturers, who would normally be considered competitors, have established a platform to develop new markets and major project work collaboratively. We also examine how we are applying the elements of innovation – offerings, platform, solutions, customers, processes, supply chain organization, value capture, presence, networking and brand in a practical way for small and medium Enterprise markets.

11:40 Alliance capability in 2009: Report about the third ASAP State of Alliance Management Study
Prof. dr. Ard-Pieter de Man, Professor, Free University of Amsterdam, Senior Consultant, Atos Consulting

For the third time ASAP members are surveyed about the extent to which they have implemented alliance best practices. This presentation not only shows which best practices are most widely adopted, but will also answer the next questions:

  • How has alliance management developed over time?
  • Which alliance best practices raise alliance success rates most?
  • What are the main differences between industries?
  • Do different types of alliance portfolios require different best practices?
  • Do companies with more diverse alliances use a different type of alliance management?

The answers to these questions will be reported and will help companies to better benchmark themselves against the industry average and best practice companies.
